Wheel of Health with Clients

About Our Services

Effective health coaching is more personal than career coaching because nothing is more intimate than our relationship to our bodies, to our food, to our minds. Clients know that they can go farther with wellness and a healthy lifestyle if they have the proper support, and a coach is there to help them every step of the way. If you get the right help at the beginning, it makes all the difference.

Aaron’s Success Story – Mind/Body

Problem

“I wanted to refine my awareness. It’s part of my path as a massage therapist and nature educator and facilitator. I wanted a good connection between my mind and body through a movement practice.”

Plan

“A daily home yoga practice, and learning to adjust it to where I am.”

Results

“More confidence and tranquility. I feel ever more confident in my body. It refines the mind. The yoga path and my nature connection are both grounded in awareness, they feed into each other. And I’ve learned to get more support around me rather than feeling I have to reach and grab for it.”

Surprise

“I have learned to do things gradually. I’m achieving my goals while gaining more ease at the same time. I decided to begin yoga teacher training, because the yoga supports my whole life. I want to share it through my therapy and facilitation work.”

Lisa’s Success Story – Personal and Professional Development

Problem

“I did consulting work, and worked pretty much all the time. I realized, though, when I got sick, that I would never be able to return to my old schedule. I was concerned because it can sometimes feel as though if you’re doing a little less, it can feel like it’s better not to do it at all.”

Plan

“I went back to my career at its early stages–one project at a time. And I focused on finding ‘breathers,” first with my breath practice.”

Results

“I learned how to try new things, move them along organically. The secret is more faith — less ‘all or nothing’ thinking. The ukulele became a part of that. It can’t sound bad. Just like my life. I also know when I need to take breaks out of town. I’m more organized around that.”

Surprise

“My ukulele became my mindfulness practice. When I’m doing it, I  have to stop everything and focus. The uke gathers a lot of people, too  — I love learning and teaching a couple of new chords. You just naturally teach someone else, that’s how it’s been going.”

Phoebe’s Success Story – Spirituality

Problem

“When I don’t remember the spiritual side of my life, I can’t function very well. I’m the parent of two young boys, and an active member of community organizations.”

Plan

“To do breath-based meditation. To use affirmations, and a daily personal ritual.”

Results

“I no longer feel in conflict with myself. My intuition has developed, and I use it for guidance every day. Better intuition has given me more purpose, more wisdom about how to handle whatever comes up.”

Surprise

“My children like to join in with me on breath meditation — to make it fun we’ll have a competition to see who can go longer. I’ve been exploring all kinds of new ways to develop myself. It has been an inspiring journey.”

Debbie’s Success Story – Movement, Exercise, and Rest

Problem

“I needed to disconnect from concentration at work — getting brain rest.”

Plan

“Briskly walking two to three times per week in local parks, to recalibrate and get into my body and move.”

Results

“I do it now consistently — and have been passing it on to my patients. I’m encouraging them to find a form of movement that’s nourishing for them.”

Surprise

“I didn’t realize how much I needed to be outside — how much more important it was for me to spend time in nature than using the gym. Observing nature, I found the freedom from thinking patterns that I needed.”

Peter’s Success Story – Nutrition

Problem

“I had a lot of unhealthy mid-waist fat.  And I had a history with sugar, so I always wanted to not eat it. But I didn’t want to feel my life was about controlling urges.”

Plan

“In coaching we reframed the no-sugar diet, using a mindfulness practice. Not eating sugar was not a ‘should.’ I began to focus on my internal self-image. I saw myself as a person committed to dreams and self-expression, who was committed to well-being. I kept up walking and added a little lifting, too.”

Results

“Over 20 lbs of weight loss. I found it easy to get the help of my family to keep this up. I didn’t need to stay with the no-sugar diet forever. My mindfulness practice continues to remind me I’m capable of changing my diet, as needed.”

Surprise

“If we don’t get lost in the weeds about what we should or shouldn’t do with diet, it will just flow naturally — I guarantee it.”

Monica’s Success Story – Relationships and Communication

Problem

“I moved here from another state and faced stressful situations at work and at home.”

Plan

“I started practicing mindful movement regularly, and did prenatal yoga teacher training with my friend.”

Results

“It has provided me with the ability to stop and take a breath when things are intense or difficult. I found new friendships. I’m a nurse, so I tell patients and co-workers, you can develop yourself and steady your mind. Like me, they need that calm, that feeling of sanctuary.”

Surprise

“My back and hips don’t hurt so much, and I sleep better. It feels good to be at peace with yourself, so you can be at peace with everyone else.”

Katie’s Success Story – Physical Environment

Problem

“My home didn’t support me holistically. I never felt I had control in the shared kitchen where I lived. Never knew what foods would be available.  I’d always had a lot of piles. I was losing energy just coping with them, not realizing what was in the piles, and not knowing how much I really had. I needed my energy unblocked.”

Plan

“I used mindfulness to come up with a meal and exercise plan that works.  I tried several different homes (and even had a brief period of living with friends) to figure out what works for me. To support that, I cleaned the closets.”

Results

“I figured out how my space can serve my health. I love my new apartment and my new routines. Because I’m taking care of myself well, I have more energy to be with people. I feel a sense of abundance in my life.”

Surprise

“We figured out how important my environment was as a foundation for other things to happen. Big changes in nutrition, exercise, career — I lost over ten pounds without counting calories. I found that planning and organization was a big part of making change sustainable.”
